About Us
FIREPROOF Wellness was built from lived experience, clinical expertise, and the recognition that the fire service deserved something the existing medical system was never going to provide on its own.
Our Mission
The mission of FIREPROOF Wellness is to empower firefighters to maximize their health by addressing the unique risks and exposures that come with a career in the fire service.
Core Values
Accessibility
Most firefighters don't know where to find a provider who understands the occupational exposures they carry, and the ones who do can be hours away. FIREPROOF removes that distance. Care is delivered through telemedicine, which means a firefighter can work with a provider who knows the job from anywhere, on a schedule that fits around shift work instead of fighting against it.
Commitment
We don't hand a firefighter a lab result and send them on their way. We stay in it for the long haul, adjusting every protocol as the data changes and backing it with providers who answer when you reach out.
Teamwork
The fire service relies on the crew cohesiveness, and so do we. Firefighters and providers interact collaboratively towards health goals, with every step of the plan filtered through the reality of shift work. This leads to better results across all metrics.
Results
We track what actually changes. Testosterone restored, inflammation brought down, metabolic risk caught early, all of it measured against the labs. If a protocol doesn't move the markers, we find a new way.
Longevity
The goal isn't getting through the next shift. It's being there for the pension, the grandkids, and the years after the job that too many firefighters never get to see. We prepare firefighters for today, and for the retirement they've earned.
Why FIREPROOF Exists
Ian Meyers spent over a decade in the fire service before he admitted something was wrong. He was tired and foggy no matter how much sleep he got on days off. He was putting on weight no matter how hard he trained. He felt flat, short with the people he cared about, and disconnected from a job that used to mean a lot to him. He reached a point where he was ready to walk away from all of it.
He did what most firefighters do. He showed up for his annual physical, and he got the same answer every time. His labs looked normal, so the only advice he got was to get more sleep. This led him to keep dismissing his symptoms and delaying the care that he needed.
His wife, Jessica Meyers PA-C, practices functional medicine and looks at the body the way most providers never do. Knowing there was more to the picture than his surface-level labs revealed, she continued to push for more.
When Ian finally agreed to meet with a colleague of Jessica's and had the panels the others had skipped, the picture was clear. His total testosterone was 196. He was pre-diabetic. His inflammation markers were high, and several other hormones were sitting at the bottom of the range. None of it had shown up on a standard checkup because nobody had bothered to look.
Jessica worked collaboratively with his medical team to build him a protocol with no testosterone replacement, just targeted root-cause work backed by the labs. Over the months that followed, his testosterone climbed to 834. The pre-diabetes resolved. His inflammation dropped, and every hormone that had been dragging came back into range.
Then came the part that never shows up on a lab report. He started sleeping again. His body recovered between shifts the way it was supposed to. He came back to the job with his head clear, and he came back to his family. That last part ended up mattering more than any number on a lab report.
The story could have ended there, inside one fire family who happened to get it right. It didn't, because Ian and Jessica already knew the truth. What happened to him is happening to firefighters nationwide. The same symptoms, the same dismissals, and the same defeated conclusion that this is just what the job does to you and there is nothing to be done about it.
That conclusion is wrong.
The protocols Jessica built in their own home are now producing the same documented results across the firefighters FIREPROOF serves. Testosterone restored. Sleep and energy back. Cardiovascular and metabolic risk caught while there's still time to act on it. Firefighters who had written themselves off, getting their lives back.
Firefighters spend a career serving others.
FIREPROOF is here to serve you.
Meet Your Providers
Jessica Meyers PA-C
Jessica Meyers is a board-certified Physician Associate with over 13 years of clinical experience and advanced training in functional and integrative medicine. She graduated from USC Keck School of Medicine and has spent her career doing what most providers do not: looking past surface numbers to find what is actually driving a patient's symptoms. Where conventional medicine sees a result and calls it normal, Jessica sees a pattern and asks why.
Her path to founding FIREPROOF was both professional and personal. Long before FIREPROOF existed, she was watching her husband navigate the slow accumulation of symptoms that the fire service tends to normalize and that standard medicine consistently fails to catch. She understood what was happening clinically. She had the tools to identify it. And she recognized that the gap between what firefighters were being told and what was actually going on inside their bodies was not a small one.
That recognition drove everything. She began developing the protocols that would become the foundation of FIREPROOF, tested them, refined them, and documented the results. What emerged was a clinical framework built specifically around the occupational realities of a fire service career: the exposures, the shift work, the hormonal disruption, the cardiovascular strain, and the metabolic consequences that accumulate slowly over decades.
In addition to her work leading FIREPROOF Wellness, she also serves on the Medical Advisory Board for Firefighter Nation Magazine, and is an active article contributor and speaker.
Amanda Queen PA-C
Amanda Queen is a board-certified Physician Associate with over 20 years of clinical experience spanning internal medicine, primary care, and emergency medicine. She brings a depth of clinical exposure that is rare in the integrative medicine space, having worked across the full spectrum of acute and chronic care before focusing her practice on root-cause medicine.
Amanda completed a fellowship in Integrative Medicine through the University of Arizona under Dr. Andrew Weil, one of the most respected integrative medicine training programs in the country. That foundation, combined with her extensive background in conventional medicine, lets her move fluidly between evidence-based clinical practice and a broader, whole-body approach. It also means she has seen where standard medicine stops short, and she built her practice around closing that gap.
Amanda operates from the conviction that most chronic health issues have identifiable, addressable root causes that standard care tends to overlook. The patients who find her have often spent years being told their labs are fine while they continue to feel anything but. Her approach is methodical and thorough. She understands the full picture before building a plan, and she holds herself to one standard with every patient: find what is actually driving the problem, and address it directly. The goal is forward movement, tracked against real data, until the patient reaches a measurably better place.
