FIREPROOF Method is a first-of-its-kind program from FIREPROOF Wellness, offering multi-tiered support with research-based educational content and telemedicine visits with licensed providers, collectively aimed at offsetting the risks encountered with a career in fire service. 

Currently FIREPROOF Method is available in Arizona, California, Florida, Michigan, Missouri, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, but we are working hard to expand access nationwide. Please send us a message with your state so we know where to focus.

We are not contracted with any health insurance plans, making us a ‘self-pay’ service. We do however walk you through the process to request reimbursement from your PPO health plan for the medical visit portion of your cost, which may be up to $1525. Actual amounts received are based on your plan details.

Yes, you can submit receipts to your HSA/FSA for reimbursement of telemedicine costs. 

You may choose to have labs billed to your PPO insurance company, or take advantage of our partnership for highly discounted labs though Quest. 

Insurance companies all have different coverage levels for lab work, as well as criteria for what they cover. Sometimes even 'basic' labs such as a vitamin D level or a thyroid panel are not covered by the insurance plan, which means the lab will pass along the cost to you, at an exorbitant cost beyond what you would have paid for the full panel though our discount program. When paying cash for labs, you avoid unexpected lab costs. 

There is some degree of variability in lab costs, based on your individual needs. A comprehensive annual/initial lab panel is typically around $425, with follow up labs under $200.

Low testosterone is a common issue facing male firefighters, with almost 40% of firefighters measuring in the ‘suboptimal’ or ‘low’ range after only one year of fire service. In our Medical Team’s years of practice supporting firefighters and other first responders, we have come to see Optimal Testosterone as a ‘switch’, which when turned on (in optimal range) makes addressing other risks which first responders face far easier to manage. Low testosterone contributes to low energy levels, poor sleep quality, increased cardiovascular disease, increased body fat, difficulty maintaining muscle mass, cholesterol abnormalities, insulin resistance, increase in inflammatory markers, depression, poor emotional regulation, and decreased cognitive function. All of these conditions are common among firefighters and can be easily improved with optimizing testosterone as a part of a complete wellness program, as in FIREPROOF Method.

We do not currently offer testosterone replacement therapy.

If you have testosterone in the optimal range, Congratulations! By applying the tools taught in our education, coaching, and telemedicine visits, you’ll be able to better support keeping those levels in range over the course of your career. Additionally, you will be armed with data on your body in a number of areas beyond testosterone levels, such as cardiovascular health, advanced lipid markers, inflammatory markers, cortisol, and more.

While our program is based on the needs and risks which firefighters face, EMT, Police, and Military also have very similar experiences and limitations. We will never turn down any EMT, Police, or Military who would like to join FIREPROOF Method.
